Atai sometimes known as ‘latai’, is a mint tea made with green tea leaves, fresh mint, and sugar. Within Algerian and Northern African culture it is served to guests as a show of hospitality and holds a significant place in social gatherings. Atai is served in a traditional tea pot called a bekraj and poured from height to create a layer of froth at the top. Atai is more than just a drink - serving as symbol of warmth and generosity that passed down through the generations.
